- NEWS OF THE WEEK -
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have released their first official music video for “Heartless” off of their highly anticipated fourth album South of Here.
Rateliff had been recently spotted in the small town of Belleville, Illinois filming scenes with the help of local production crews and actors. The music video features a young boy dealing with an extremely difficult time in his life, as the stages of grief flow through, the surroundings change around him. Time heals, but scars still remain as a reminder of the difficulties we all face and can overcome together.
It’s a beautiful video and The Night Sweats should be very proud of the message they’re putting out into the world. The new album cannot get here soon enough as it’s looking and sounding like it will be their best yet.
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have released the second song off of their eagerly anticipated fourth LP South of Here.
The song is titled “David and Goliath” and deals directly with anxiety and the daily fight that comes in trying to defeat that giant. The wonderfully unusual song structure brings about comparisons to Harry Nilsson and The Beatles in their later years. Very unique and oh so amazing!
A select few had the privilege of hearing the song live last December when the band played their 19th Annual Holiday Show at Ball Arena in Denver just before Christmas. The live energy for the final “…Try to be gracious“ moment of the song is something to experience!
Fantasy Recordings have also written an excellent article on the band’s latest release that summarizes the feel of the new album and record very succinctly.
Nathaniel Rateliff is featured on Orville Peck’s highly anticipated brand new Duet Album Stampede: Vol 1, released May 10th. Rateliff lent his voice and guitar for the song that he also penned titled ‘Conquer The Heart’.
The song blends their two vocals smoothly and seamlessly and harkens back to a 60’s vibe with the opening beats instantly bringing to mind ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes. Long time friend of Rateliff, the one and only, Willie Nelson also duets with Peck on the classic ‘Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other’.

Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts you have given us through your music and activism.
When I first heard Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats it was one of those moments that just clicked. All of the cliches people say when something big happens, happened. Their sound instantly reminded me of something so close but too easily forgotten. Something that can be frightening to show, but something that can be very powerful.
SIMPLE VULNERABLE HONESTY.
The more I dug into the catalogs of their past and present the more I fell in love. Everything was so refreshing, sincere, and true. There was sadness, there was fun, there was hope. The beautiful pain and joy of life all laid bare in their words and music.
My goal is for @NRNS [atnrns.com] to become a central place for all things Nathaniel Rateliff.
As my fandom and passion grew I noticed it was hard to find information all in one place. Hopefully, in time, this site will help make it easier for others to discover just how incredible his and their music is.
PLEASE NOTE:
I’m only one fan putting this site together and sometimes other obligations make it difficult to keep things up to date. I promise to do my best.
Thank you for visiting!
